Armour inspections to begin following the vigil as well as warm ups. We will commence the sheep raids around 12:30, where opposing teams will battle over control of a flock of sheep in a roped off area. We will at some point allow all of the non combatant participants attending summer Seige to pelt us with stones. Things will break down into pickups/bearpit as the afternoon progresses.Archery, Marshal: Lord Cennèdig
Rapier tourney: Tavern brawl (Don't Spill my Beer!)
Combatants will be issued a beer (water, since at least one will be underage) and are charged with defending their beer while they duel their opponent. Any means to defend the mug are permissible, except for handing it to someone else or taking it off the list (because a beer in someone else's hands is someone else's beer, and a beer out of sight doesn't exist).
It will be a round-robin, with the four top contestants dueling in two bouts to determine the finalists, and then the finalists dueling to determine the winner. Bonus points will be awarded if you are able to disable your opponent rather than killing them.A&S, Organizer: Lord Dafydd
Greetings to artisans of the Skraeling Althing (and beyond),
The Barony of Skraeling Althing is hosting a new A&S competition on the Saturday at Summer Siege (August 26-28). Traditionally there has either been a “bean count” tournament or “for display” table at the event. This year we’re going to try something different.
Inspired by the success of the Kingdom’s Queen’s Prize Tourney, this year’s Summer Siege A&S showcase will be for commentary only. It’s your chance to register an item – could be a mock-up, an in-progress piece or a final piece that you’d like to improve on, and have judges discuss it with you and give you suggestions.
The beauty of it is, with Summer Siege at the end of August, you could even get some initial comments on a project you’re working on for QPT or Feast of the Hare in the fall. Skraeling Althing is a hotbed for A&S so you’re bound to have some really great feedback. It’s also a great chance for anyone who’s been thinking about judging at a bigger A&S event to get your feet wet on a smaller scale.
More information will follow, including registration forms for entries and calls for people interested in judging. But the countdown has begun, so now’s a good time to start thinking about what you might want to enter.
